Project 52-21

The last week of school was very busy for Brie. Her class went to the park on Wednesday, had their awards ceremony on Thursday, and on Friday, they had a luau. Of course the last two days were half days, so they went by really quickly.

The Awards Ceremony

I must take a time out to brag about my super sweet smart girl. She got awards for excellence in reading, excellence in conduct (she got a 100 every week), she was on the A honor roll, and last she had the highest AR points in the whole first grade. Which also had her as having read the most books in the whole first grade too. She read 232 books the whole year.

Yeah . . . 232. That is a lot of books, and being a book worm myself, this award made me soooo proud of her.

Brie and her buddy after the awards.

LUAU time!!
With her teacher. We couldn't have asked for a better teacher. She cried the last day, she was giving the kids a good bye speech and couldn't even get the words out. She had us moms crying with her. I don't know about you, but I find it pretty touching when a teacher gets emotional about her class leaving.

My official 2nd grade girl.

Project 52-20

A week before school was out, my mom, the kids, & I drove to Tennessee to watch the son of my mom's friend graduate from high school. Tammy lives a few hours away from Nashville, and it sure made one heck of a trip. My mom really wanted to go, but since my dad hadn't been working in three months he couldn't take anymore time off from work, so I told her I would go. I didn't get any pictures of the actual graduation, or of anything else really, but I did get a picture of my nemesis, The Mighty Mississippi. I have a total fear of bridges (especially the caged ones) and even more so when there is a large body of water under them. A couple of years ago, this is the river that caused all the flooding in Memphis.

WHEW!! Finally in Tennessee

The pyramid in Memphis. It is some kind of arena.

On the way back. We left on Sunday and Brie had school on Monday, so we HAD to make the trip back in one day, that made for a very long day.

It was raining at the river on the way back.

Project 52-19

Brie's dance recital was Mother's Day weekend. It was so much fun to see how she has improved. She has been taking dance since she was 3 and is now 7. She has come a long way, from being the shy little girl who wouldn't budge in her first recital, to the little girl who knows the routine perfectly. She enjoys dancing so much and I'm proud of what she has learned.

Her in the middle, during their tap routine.

More tap and skipping.

In their tutu's for the ballet routine.

Of course the hip-hop routine. They all had to do the robot in part of this dance. I have to say that my girl can do a MEAN robot.

Project 52-18

Let me just start by saying, I'm no good at this project thing. Here it is the second full week of JUNE and I'm playing catch up for what I was supposed to post in May.

In this picture, Brie was trying to figure out what she was going to wear for her hip-hop dance routine in the year end recital. We tried several things and decided on this.

Of course when you are given the option to wear pretty much anything, you can't just use what you have, so the socks were our building block for this ensemble (that's a fancy word for clothes) which led us to the realization that we should have a layered tank look (of course we already had the pink one), so we had to add the purple tank. Lastly the hat was the trickiest part. We searched everywhere for a hat. Can you believe that this cutie patootie hat came from. . . Academy?! So here you have it, her lovely hp-hop self.
