Bags... Oh Granny! The bags!

Are you a bag lady? This obsession with bags started with my grandmother & extends to Brie. My grandmother had lots & lots of handbags & she kept almost all of them, my mom does get a new one every 6 months but doesn't hang on to the old ones like her mother, I have a bag for every activity I'm in, I love love love handbags, bags, I am the BAG LADY!, & Brie shares a love for bags like the rest of us.

I have 4 quilted bags that someone has made & given to me, I love these bags, they are sturdy & can be washed easily.

I found a blog where a lady is giving away a beautiful quilted bag. I haven't seen one quite like these, I'm telling you they are wonderful! Makes me wish I could sew, then I would have an endless supply of bags!! ;) he he he

PRAYER!

Please pray for a little boy in Brie's Preschool class. His name is Clay Fite, he was badly burned Saturday evening & is in critical condition.

You can find out information about this sweet, sweet boy here.

While you are praying you might also pray for the little 4 & 5 year olds in their class as they are so young to understand exactly what is going on.

It's a bird! It's a plane! It's SUPERMAN!!

WHAT A WONDERFUL WEEKEND & CRAZY WAY TO START THE WEEK!

Brodie woke up Friday night with a croup cough! (you know the one that sounds like there is a seal inside him somewhere when he coughs!) Unfortunately we deal with this all the time, both kids get it quite frequently, so we started the routine. Breathing treatment, Mucinex, steam shower, & sleeping with mommy and daddy. (well with mommy so she can listen closely!)
Saturday night he slept horrible coughing off & on, it got bad around 5:00 a.m., he woke up & we gave him another treatment & put him in a steam shower with Josh. He was wheezing & barking & at this point I usually have to force myself to remain calm. So I said a prayer over him in the shower & felt a little better when he stopped wheezing as bad. We fell back asleep at 6:30 & at 7:30 he woke up screaming & we couldn't get him calm. He was wheezing like I've never heard him wheeze & I told Josh, "That's it, we are taking him to the ER".
We got to the ER & the nurse checked him out. Dr. Fazel came around, looked at him & listened & said he had croup. (i already knew that)
They decided to admit him since he sounded so bad. They said he would be under the croup tent for at least a day, we were already thinking what fun that would be! NOT! After he gave the nurse the orders I asked if he had to have an IV... & he did.

I thought we would have to lay on top of him in order for it to get done. The only part he didn't like was when we held him down so she could look. He cried & kept saying , "mommy, daddy". By the time she had found the vain she wanted he had quite crying & we were loosely holding on to him. The nurse was like ok here comes the hard part... BUT NO not for my baby, he was watching her & he didn't even flinch or cry when she stuck the needle in. He was such a big boy! He wasn't even mad at her when she was done he just smiled at her. After she wrapped it where he could bend his arm, he looked at his arm & started cheesing! He liked it. The whole time we were there he NEVER messed with it. (that is sooo unusual, most kids have it pulled out in about an hour)

He got in the tent & was cool with it for Sunday all day. Monday morning came around & Dr. Fazel said he sounded better but was still having retractions (which isn't a great thing!) so he said he wanted to keep him at least one more night! At this point they did an RSV test & it came back positive. So not only did he have croup he has RSV. We are now having to keep a close eye on Brie too. He can't be around other kids for at least 5 days so we are making it 10, just to be safe. Josh was at work all day & for the most part B-man was good but around 3:30 he went nuts! I think the steroids in the tent started working on his mood & personality. He changed sooo much, he was fighting me about getting back in the tent & he kept telling me no, (which he NEVER does). When Josh got there he got in with him & I went home for a bit. Later around 7:00 we decided to let him out so he could run around & get some energy off. HOLY COW! He was restricted because of his IV but by the time he was done that IV line was so kinked. He just ran in circles literally! It was quite humorous to see him act so differently. I was thinking man, those steroids made a huge difference in him.

We brought him home in a sleeveless Superman shirt & red shorts.

He really is my little Superman. He is such a tough guy. Getting the IV & having to stay in the tent for hours & hours at a time. When it came time to leave yesterday, we were walking down the hall & when he saw the door, he took off running like, let's go before they change their mind! He is still coughing & his nose is stuffy but that doesn't affect him. He is just going, going, going.

Here are some pictures of his FIRST hospital stay & his FIRST IV

In the tent with daddy.

Showing mommy his arm!

He was in a good mood. This is his shocked face!

He never really ate much but here he is licking the malt-o-meal off the lid.

Showing me his SUPERMAN muscles!

Cheesy. Doesnt look or act sick!

Wearing Brie's very crooked Cinderella glasses.

"gyasses ike mommy" is what he says!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOSH!

OK so I'm a little late in posting this.
Josh celebrated his 26th birthday last Tuesday February 3. I made him a special birthday dinner & a birthday cake and bought ice cream. (the ice cream was at Brie's request) When the cake was done we put icing on it and then Josh decided he wanted the kids to decorate the cake. All we had were sprinkles (Christmas ones at that) and sprinkle the heck out of that cake they did!

Hope you had a wonderful birthday Josh. We love you!

Dita, Brie, & Brodie

The cake... notice the bottom right hand is full of the same kind that would be Brodie's handy work. Also to the left you see all the red sprinkles... yep that was Brie's work. Man! They are a pair of awesome sprinklers!! ha ha

Here they are helping daddy blow out his candles!
